A WIDER HORIZON
EXHIBITION | 03 OCTOBER - 16 NOVEMBER 2024
ORA-ORA IS EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE THE UPCOMING EXHIBITION, A WIDER HORIZON, FEATURING A STUNNING ARRAY OF WORKS FROM RENOWNED ARTISTS PETER DOIG AND ROSAMOND BROWN, ALONGSIDE CELEBRATED GREATER CHINA ARTISTS HALLEY CHENG, CHAN KENG TIN, STEPHEN WONG, AND XIAO XU. THE EXHIBITION WILL RUN FROM OCTOBER 3 TO NOVEMBER 16, 2024 AT ORA-ORA’S TAI KWUN SPACE.
A WIDER HORIZON INVITES VIEWERS TO EXPLORE THE MULTIFACETED INTERPRETATIONS OF LANDSCAPE, BRIDGING HISTORICAL AND CONTEMPORARY PERSPECTIVES. PETER DOIG’S ICONIC PIECE, FIGURE IN MOUNTAIN LANDSCAPE SERVES AS A FOCAL POINT, EMBODYS THE TENSION BETWEEN RESILIENCE AND DISORIENTATION. ROSAMOND BROWN’S GREAT WALL III THAT CONNECTS HER WITH WESTERN POST-WAR ABSTRACT EXPRESSIONISTS AND COLOR FIELD PAINTERS, WHILE HER EXPERIENCES IN ASIA INTRODUCE ELEMENTS OF ZEN AND CALLIGRAPHIC PRECISION.
THE EXHIBITION ALSO FEATURES CHAN KENG TIN, WHOSE WORK SETTLE OUR SPIRIT ELSEWHERE CAPTIVATES WITH ITS VIBRANT CYAN HUES AND SURREAL MOUNTAIN LANDSCAPES, PROVOKING CONTEMPLATION ON THE INTERSECTION OF NATURE AND URBAN LIFE. HALLEY CHENG’S A TREE IN JORDAN VALLEY PARK PLAYFULLY ENGAGES WITH CLASSICAL THEMES, MERGING TRADITION WITH MODERN EXPRESSION. STEPHEN WONG’S THE PASSENGER OFFERS AN EERIE EXPLORATION OF TWILIGHT CYPRESS TREES, REFLECTING THEMES OF ALIENATION AND INTROSPECTION. MEANWHILE, XIAO XU’S LOTUS MOUNTAIN I AND RHAPSODY IN THE PARK 2 ENCHANTS WITH ITS MYSTICAL ATMOSPHERE, INVITING VIEWERS TO PONDER THE DEEPER CONNECTIONS BETWEEN NATURE AND SPIRITUALITY. TOGETHER, THESE DIVERSE WORKS CREATE A RICH DIALOGUE THAT CHALLENGES OUR PERCEPTIONS OF LANDSCAPES AND THEIR EMOTIONAL RESONANCE.
