Coming together in one artwork, the erasers assume a group identity whilst retaining their individual stories and motives. The result hovers between the past and the present, bearing the scars of their experiences whilst remaining items of great practicality, merged into a state which is constantly temporary.

Also made at Shadwell, Frozen Fire was created at the same time as London Hue. Red and blue are the dominant colours of the UK’s Union flag. Although the red and blue pens were brought with her from Hong Kong, Sophie Cheung found that the colours were involuntarily transformed into the glow of sunset and sunrise that she experienced in the UK capital.
