Using his instantly recognizable style of watercolour, Cheng flattens the original image and eliminates extraneous clues and
details, leaving behind a pure interweaving of colours. The accumulated remnants of pamphlets sticking and tearing upon a
reflective surface combines with the flaking of the shattered glass itself. Any reflections and orphaned fragments serve only to
further distract and obscure. The unexpected pigments reflected in the shards, the text of the torn pamphlets and the glass, project an
illusion of a structural space beyond true reality. The sensation of a confrontation with scattered ghosts of colour and truth match
with experiences of contemporary social movements. The piece is an encouraging response to the anxiety that is the natural consequence of an opaque world.
