Art China
Through Ink Art Zhang Yanzi metaphysically expresses her feelings and care towards all beings. Certainly we find many elements of Buddism such as Buddha and mudra gestures within her art works. This contributes to the spiritual level of art creation - transcends all physical experiences. Her recent religious idea in art expression greatly differentiates from her earlier works – namely her modern literati paintings from the 80s, as well as abstract ink art pioneered by Liu Kuo-Sung during the 60s. Zhang Yanzi’s spiritual dimension as illustrated in ink paintings has far exceeded her understanding and interest in art she demonstrated in the 2010 exhibition. We could find from these art works her advancement in technique, and most importantly, her profound understanding towards life.
