Xu Hongfei often portray his Chubby Women sculptures as active and in motion. The idea of a woman being beautiful because she is in motion is a fairly new idea. This goes against the female ideal for several decades which was soft, dependent and domesticated. In some sculptures, the artist places his female figure next to structures which imply mechanization and function. Women are shown inside or interacting with structures which by its very nature implies movement, such as wheels, coils, staircases.

許鴻飛的作品不但只是強調「肥女」的可愛，而他創作的雕塑中的藝術性亦是作品的亮點之一，例如他特別喜愛強調作品裡的戲劇性與張力。他的「動感系列」便是一個明顯的例子，肥女的表情都是誇張而生動的，她們的動作都是充滿勁道。而且許鴻飛往往喜歡挑戰難道甚高的肢體動作，並且在佈局裡多以對角拉力的結構為重點，令人看著感到雕塑中的人物是帶著激情，還有形成逗趣的效果。
許鴻飛喜愛宣揚快樂正面的訊息給觀眾，而他所刻劃的多數是日常生活動的小情趣，因為他認為人生活著就是要快樂。而且「藝術家之責任，乃自創風格，突出個性，俾眾周知……藝術，玩物也。藝術向求偉大，易失其本質。」他的藝術作品是以趣味和幽默作為注腳，這亦是他的個人藝術觀。
